Mount Sainte-Odile

About 14 kilometres (9 miles) from Obernai, Mont Sainte-Odile offers an exceptional view of the Alsace plain. This spiritual site is a major pilgrimage destination dedicated to the saint patron of Alsace. Here you can visit her tomb, the Chapels of Tears and Angels, the panoramic terrace, and the miraculous spring, just a 15-minute walk away.

The legend of Saint Odile

Born blind, Saint Odile was abandoned by her father, Duke Etichon. After regaining her sight during her baptism, she escaped from a forced marriage. A rock miraculously opened up in front of her, and her father, touched by this miracle, founded the convent of Hohenbourg, of which she became the first abbess.
